Aggies Rally From Five-Run Deficit to Top Wolf Pack

DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — The UC Davis Aggies stormed back from an early five-run hole to defeat the Nevada Wolf Pack 7-5 in a nonconference baseball game Saturday evening.

Nevada sent nine batters to the plate in a chaotic top of the first, scoring all five of its runs, three of which were unearned. The Aggies answered immediately in the bottom half on a three-run homer by catcher Evan Gentil. Gentil added a bases-loaded walk in the second, finishing with four RBIs.

Jaxon Murphy’s two-run double later in the second gave UC Davis the lead for good. Four Aggies relievers combined for 8 2/3 innings of scoreless work after the first, led by Keenan Anzai’s eight strikeouts over four frames.

The Aggies improved to 5-5. The Wolf Pack fell to 3-5. The teams conclude their three-game series Sunday.
