Retrievers Snap Skid, Roll Past Hoyas in Nonconference Rout

BETHESDA, Md. (Interstat) — Maryland-Baltimore County broke into the win column Wednesday afternoon, pounding Georgetown 12-7 at Shirley Povich Field.

The Retrievers (1-3) erupted for 13 hits, capitalizing on four Georgetown errors to build a commanding early lead and secure their first victory of the young season. Dylan Melton led the offensive charge, going 4 for 6 with two RBIs.

Georgetown (5-4), which entered as a heavy favorite according to Interstat’s ELO projections, mustered only six hits. The Hoyas scored five late runs in the seventh and eighth innings to close the gap, highlighted by a three-run double from A. Solomon, but the early deficit proved insurmountable.
