Broncos Outlast Panthers in Back-and-Forth Florida Contest

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Western Michigan Broncos evened their season series with a 7-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday at Charlotte Sports Park. The Broncos built a seven-run lead early, highlighted by Lucas Rick’s two-run double in the first inning, and held off a late Panthers rally. Pittsburgh’s offense, limited to four hits, scored three unearned runs in the eighth inning but could not complete the comeback. Western Michigan’s 13-hit attack proved decisive as both teams moved to 1-1 on the young season. The teams conclude their three-game set Sunday afternoon.
