MIAMI (Interstat) — Michael Whooley’s three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning broke open a tight contest and propelled the Villanova Wildcats to a 7-4 victory over the Florida International Golden Panthers on Friday night at FIU Baseball Stadium in the season opener for both teams. The Wildcats, who were given a 31.9 percent chance to win by Interstat’s ELO system, capitalized on Florida International mistakes and used a balanced offensive attack to secure the win.
