After a pitching change, Riley Irby singled to drive in Kalinich, and Lenahan followed with a two-run double. A walk to Dixon Herring loaded the bases, and Burress drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the fifth run of the inning.

The Pirates added two more in the fourth on Kalinich’s two-run homer to deep center field, his third home run of the series. Whitaker led off the sixth with a solo shot to right, his second homer of the game. East Carolina tacked on two in the seventh on Burress’s triple and a run-scoring groundout by Wallace.

Florida Atlantic managed only four hits. The Owls scored their first run in the fifth inning on a groundout by Jake Small that scored Joshua Patten, who had singled and advanced on a wild pitch. They added an unearned run in the sixth when Brady Boylston stole second and third and came home on a throwing error by catcher Brett Barron.
