Yehl threw a nine-inning, one-run, nine-strikeout complete game win May 1 against Kansas State and a five-inning, no-run, eight-strikeout outing April 18 versus Houston. He also worked two scoreless innings April 18 against Houston.
Friday’s win for TCU also featured a pinch-hit home run from Noah Franco and a solo shot from third baseman Kyuss Gargett. Franco went 1-for-1, Gargett 1-for-4.
West Virginia’s offense has been steady, averaging 7.4 runs per game. The Mountaineers swept a weekend series at Kansas on May 8-10, outscoring the Jayhawks 22-5, and took two of three from Kansas State on May 1-3.
The Horned Frogs rebounded from a series loss at Oklahoma State (May 1-3) by sweeping Utah at home on May 8-10, then splitting the first two games in Morgantown.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures near 75 degrees.
