LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — Virginia faces Louisville in a series-deciding Atlantic Coast Conference game Saturday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium, with the Interstat game simulator projecting a 7-2 victory for the visiting Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers (35-19) enter the rubber match after splitting the first two games of the weekend set. Virginia won the opener 8-3 on Thursday behind a dominant performance from right-hander Henry Zatkowski, then lost 12-2 on Friday in a lopsided affair. The Cardinals (29-26) rebounded from Thursday’s defeat to even the series.

Zatkowski is scheduled to start Saturday after throwing six innings of one-hit ball against Louisville two days ago. In that outing, he allowed one earned run and struck out six. The sophomore has been inconsistent recently, posting a 6.35 ERA over his past three appearances, but he has held the Cardinals to a .050 batting average across 9 1/3 innings this season.

Louisville counters with right-hander Joe Olson, who lasted only 3 1/3 innings in Thursday’s loss. Olson allowed one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts. The Cardinals’ bullpen will be tested after covering the bulk of innings in the series opener.

Virginia brings a potent offense that averaged 8.7 runs in its past three wins. The Cavaliers pounded out 16 hits in Tuesday’s 16-6 victory over Richmond, then managed only four hits in Friday’s loss. Louisville’s attack erupted for 12 runs on 14 hits Friday, snapping a four-game losing streak.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon with the forecast calling for 67 degrees and cloudy skies.
