Bellarmine at Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — Louisville hosts Bellarmine on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Jim Patterson Stadium in a matchup of in-state foes trending in opposite directions. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 72 degrees.
The Cardinals (27-25 overall) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak after dropping a weekend series at Miami (Fla.). The Knights (19-30 overall) are in the midst of a four-game slide after being swept by Lipscomb, including a 2-1 loss Saturday.
Bellarmine right-hander Chase Chamberlain is a player to watch Tuesday despite the team’s recent struggles. In that loss to Lipscomb, Chamberlain threw 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing only one unearned run while striking out one. It continued a recent stretch in which the Knights’ pitcher has shown effectiveness but been undermined by bullpen and defensive lapses. In a start May 3 at North Alabama, Chamberlain pitched 4.0 innings and allowed five earned runs but struck out seven in a 9-6 win. Against Central Arkansas on April 26, he gave up three earned runs over 3.2 innings.
Louisville reliever Ty Starke has been a steady presence out of the bullpen. In the 10-8 loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday, Starke tossed 1.1 hitless innings with two strikeouts. Over his last four outings, he has allowed only three earned runs across 5.0 innings, striking out five. Starke’s most extended recent appearance came April 19 at California, where he threw 3.0 scoreless innings with one strikeout.
The Cardinals’ offense showed its power in the series at Miami, scoring 8 runs in each of the first two games. In Saturday’s loss, first baseman Tague Davis went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, while left fielder Zion Rose was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Bellarmine’s bats have been quiet of late. The Knights scored just one run in each of their last two games against Lipscomb after managing four runs in each of the previous two.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Louisville victory.
Following Tuesday’s game, Louisville opens a three-game home series against Virginia on Thursday. Bellarmine also returns home to host Eastern Kentucky in a three-game set starting Thursday.
