Saint John`s at Xavier

CINCINNATI (Interstat) — Saint John’s visits Xavier in a Big East baseball matchup Friday evening at Marge Schott Stadium, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies and 82-degree heat.

The Red Storm (21-19 overall) enter on a three-game winning streak, including a 10-5 victory at Rutgers on Tuesday. Saint John’s outfielder Lewis Rodriguez has been a key contributor, batting 2-for-2 with two RBIs in that win and posting a .300 average over his last nine games.

Xavier (19-23) counter with right-hander Owen Poole, who has been effective in limited recent outings. He threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings Tuesday against Vanderbilt and has allowed just two earned runs over his last 11 innings.

Interstat’s simulator projects an 8-7 Saint John’s victory, though Xavier holds a 55.6 percent win probability in the ELO system.

This opens a three-game series, with games also scheduled Saturday and Sunday.
