Austin Peay at Western Kentucky
HADLEY, Ky. (Interstat) — Two teams hovering around .500 will meet Wednesday when the Austin Peay Governors visit the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Nick Denes Field.
Austin Peay (20-20) enters after taking two of three from Bellarmine, including a 10-5 win Sunday. Western Kentucky (21-20) is coming off a dominant 13-0 road victory at Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday.
A key matchup will feature Austin Peay reliever Gavin Alveti against Western Kentucky’s hot-hitting Hayden Robbins. Alveti has been a reliable arm out of the bullpen, allowing no earned runs in six of his last eight appearances. In Sunday’s win, he threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Robbins provides the power for the Hilltoppers. He drove in five runs, including a home run, in a 10-5 win at Missouri State on April 19. Over his last 10 games, he has two homers and eight RBIs.
The Governors’ offense showed life in the Bellarmine series, scoring 31 runs across three games. Zion Taylor drove in four runs in Sunday’s victory.
Western Kentucky’s pitching will look to build on Tuesday’s shutout performance as it begins a five-game homestand.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this midweek contest is projected to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of Austin Peay 5, Western Kentucky 4.
First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 73 degrees forecast.
This is the first of a home-and-home series between the programs this season. They will meet again on Tuesday, April 28, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Austin Peay begins a three-game series at Lipscomb on Friday. Western Kentucky opens Conference USA play at home against Kennesaw State on Friday.
