Holy Cross at Bucknell
LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — The Holy Cross Crusaders and Bucknell Bison will meet in the opener of a Patriot League doubleheader on Saturday at Eugene B. Depew Field, with the visiting Crusaders looking to build on a decisive victory from the day before.
First pitch is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, though the forecast calls for rain and a game-time temperature of 72 degrees.
Holy Cross (15-16) routed Bucknell 14-5 on Friday, powered by a strong relief outing from Jake Lenahan and a three-RBI day from John LaFleur. The Crusaders have won four of their last five.
Bucknell (18-13), which had won eight of nine prior to Friday’s loss, will aim to rebound at home. The Bison had been consistent, taking series from Lafayette and Lehigh in recent weeks before the stumble against Holy Cross.
A key matchup will feature recent standout performers from each side. Holy Cross’s Lenahan, a pitcher, was dominant in Friday’s win, throwing four hitless innings of relief with three strikeouts. Over his last seven appearances, he has allowed runs in only three.
For Bucknell, designated hitter Garrett Mathias homered and drove in three runs in the same contest, continuing a productive stretch. In his last 10 games, Mathias has three home runs and 14 RBIs.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a tight Bucknell victory, 7-6, with the Bison given a 51.6% probability to win by its ELO rating system.
The series is crucial for early positioning in the Patriot League. Following Saturday’s twin bill, the teams will conclude the three-game set on Sunday.
Holy Cross will visit Brown next Tuesday before hosting Navy next weekend. Bucknell travels to Villanova on Tuesday before a pivotal four-game league series at Army next weekend.
