Citadel Holds Off Winthrop Rally in High-Scoring Affair

ROCK HILL, S.C. (Interstat) — Sam Dansky drove in four runs, including a two-run homer, and The Citadel bullpen delivered 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief as the Bulldogs outlasted Winthrop 10-8 on Wednesday at Winthrop Ballpark.

The Citadel built a 10-1 lead by the sixth inning, powered by Dansky’s blast in the second and a two-run double from Phillips Daniels. Christian Stratis added three RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Winthrop chipped away, scoring seven runs over the fourth, sixth and seventh innings, capitalizing on wild pitches and key hits from Norton and Skowronski. The Eagles brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.

Andrew Buffkin, Liam Foley and Casey Culbreth provided critical scoreless relief outings. The Citadel evened its record at 16-16, while Winthrop fell to 22-11.
