NEW HAMBURG, N.Y. (Interstat) — Lukas Torres singled through the right side with one out in the ninth inning, driving in Jayden Alvarez to give Wagner a 10-9 victory over Coppin State on Saturday at Heritage Financial Park. Torres went 3 for 6 with three RBIs to lead the Seahawks, who improved to 25-21.

Wagner took an early lead in the first on Nicholas Mazzotta’s RBI groundout after Torres scored. Joseph Mennella doubled home two runs in the third, making it 3-0. Marcus Sanders answered for Coppin State with a two-run homer in the fifth, and the Eagles added four unearned runs in the sixth, grabbing a 6-3 lead.

The Seahawks chipped away. Torres singled in two runs in the sixth, and Evan McRae doubled in two in the seventh, tying the game 7-7. Coppin State regained the lead with two runs on wild pitches in the eighth, but Wagner pulled even in the bottom half on Dylan Immel’s two-run single.

Pedro Agosto scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth, putting Coppin State ahead 9-8. In the bottom half, Alvarez reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on Torres’ walk-off hit.

Colin Trizuto (5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 K) and Frankie Nardo (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) combined for Wagner. Nicco Holland took the loss for Coppin State (9-35).
