Oregon at UCLA
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — UCLA freshman right-hander Wylan Moss pitched seven innings of three-hit ball and first baseman Mulivai Levu homered twice, leading the Bruins to an 11-1 victory over Oregon on Friday night at Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
Moss struck out nine, walked one and allowed one earned run as UCLA improved to 45-4 overall and 45-4 in Big Ten play. The Ducks dropped to 35-13, 35-13.
The game was decided in the third inning when UCLA broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run outburst. After shortstop Roch Cholowsky walked, Levu crushed a 2-run home run to center field, putting the Bruins ahead 3-1. The inning continued with a hit-by-pitch to designated hitter Dean Martin and a single by right fielder Payton Brennan. After a strikeout, third baseman Roman Dugger walked to load the bases.
UCLA second baseman Jake Gudoy then reached on a fielder’s choice, driving in Brennan and forcing Dugger out at second. Brennan scored on a throwing error by Oregon first baseman Jackson Brooks, and Martin also came home on the play, giving UCLA a 6-1 lead. The Bruins added two more unearned runs in the fourth on a wild pitch and another bases-loaded walk.
Oregon managed its only run in the top of the fourth. First baseman Bryce Jaksa singled, and catcher BurkeLee Mabeus doubled to put runners at second and third. Third baseman Drew Smith hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Jaksa and cutting the deficit to 6-1.
The Ducks threatened again in the fifth when shortstop Jake Brooks singled, but he was stranded as Oregon struck out three times in the inning.
UCLA put the game away in the sixth. Levu led off with his second home run, a solo shot to right field. Martin then singled, and Brennan followed with a 2-run homer to right, extending the lead to 11-1.

Relievers Jonah Barkoff and Leo Uelmen combined for three innings, with Uelmen allowing three earned runs in two frames. Barkoff threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
