HUNTSVILLE, Texas (Interstat) — Ryan Peterson pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts to lead Sam Houston State to a 13-2 victory over Delaware on Friday night at Don Sanders Stadium.

Nathan Fink went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Bearkats, who scored 13 runs on 12 hits. Connor Mondey added 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Caleb Cotton homered, Jace Martinez drove in two runs, Wes Baker had two RBIs and Cade Corcoran also homered for Sam Houston (21-29).

Delaware (17-32) managed seven hits. Sam Winsett had an RBI. Jackson Hulcher struck out one in 1 1/3 innings. Jake Marchesano allowed three earned runs in two innings.

The Bearkats broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the third inning and pulled away. The teams continue a three-game series Saturday.
