Bryant at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — Holy Cross scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th inning to edge Bryant 7-6 on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, avenging an 11-1 loss to the Bulldogs two weeks earlier.

The Crusaders improved to 20-25 while the Bulldogs fell to 21-19.

Bryant struck first in the top of the first, taking a 1-0 lead after Casey Wensley walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Hunter Kingsbury. But Holy Cross answered immediately in the bottom half, sending eight batters to the plate. John LaFleur doubled to right field with two outs, driving in two runs, and Braden Connors followed with an RBI single to give the Crusaders a 3-1 lead.

Bryant chipped away. In the fourth inning, center fielder Gavin Greger homered to right-center, cutting the deficit to 5-2. The Bulldogs pulled within one in the fifth when Kingsbury doubled home Carlos Irizarry, who had singled, making it 5-4.

The Bulldogs took their first lead since the opening frame in the sixth. Cam Papetti was hit by a pitch, and Greger followed with an RBI triple to right field. Justin Hackett then doubled to center, scoring Greger to tie the game at 5. After a hit-by-pitch to Dylan Prince, Irizarry singled through the left side, driving in two runs to put Bryant ahead 6-5.

Holy Cross tied it in the seventh. Gianni Royer walked and John LaFleur singled. After a strikeout, Van Coughlin doubled down the left-field line, scoring Royer to knot the game at 6.

Neither team scored in the eighth or ninth, sending the game to extra innings.

In the top of the 10th, Bryant failed to score despite Greger’s single. In the bottom half, Daly led off with a single, then advanced to second on a throwing error by the catcher. Owen Stelzer sacrificed Daly to third with a bunt. After a walk to pinch hitter Colin Brown, Alex Sandell laid down a squeeze bunt, driving in Daly with the winning run.

For Holy Cross, Ethan Maddies threw 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits with three strikeouts.
