San Jose State at Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Interstat) — The San Jose State Spartans and Air Force Falcons meet Saturday evening at Falcon Baseball Field in a Mountain West series game.

San Jose State (17-20) looks to build on momentum after a 10-2 victory at Fresno State on April 18. Air Force (18-20) is coming off a 16-12 loss at Grand Canyon on April 19. The forecast calls for 67 degrees and cloudy skies.

Spartans right fielder Alex Fernandes is a player to watch. In his last 10 games, Fernandes has collected hits in five contests, including a 2-for-3 performance with a home run and two RBIs against Fresno State on April 18. He also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs against Nevada on April 11 and 2-for-5 with two RBIs against Cal Poly on April 7. Fernandes, however, has been prone to inconsistency, going hitless in four of his last seven games entering Saturday.

For Air Force, center fielder Kayden Bradshaw leads the Falcons. Bradshaw went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs at Grand Canyon on April 19. He recorded multiple RBIs in three of his last four games entering the weekend, including a 3-for-4, two-RBI performance against Fresno State on April 12. Bradshaw has also had quiet stretches, going hitless in three of his last five outings.

The teams played Friday, though a result was not provided. The Spartans have won four of their last five games, including a 6-3 victory at Fresno State on April 17 and a 10-7 win at California on April 15. San Jose State’s losses during that stretch include a 5-4 defeat at Nevada on April 12.

Air Force has won seven of its last 10 games, including a 5-4 victory at Grand Canyon on April 18 and a 17-7 win over Utah Valley on April 13. The Falcons lost three of their last four road games, falling at San Diego State 12-9 on April 4 and dropping two of three at Grand Canyon.

The Interstat game simulator projects Air Force to win 7-5.

The series concludes Sunday. San Jose State next travels to San Francisco on April 28. Air Force hosts Northern Colorado on Tuesday.
