New Mexico Rallies From Seven-Run Deficit to Clinch Series Over Nevada
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Interstat) — The New Mexico Lobos stormed back from an early seven-run deficit to defeat the Nevada Wolf Pack 9-7 in a Mountain West conference game Sunday evening.
Nevada erupted for seven runs in the first two innings, highlighted by a two-RBI performance from designated hitter Mikey Cruz. New Mexico began chipping away with solo homers from Luke Mansy and Lenny Ashby. The Lobos then sent 11 batters to the plate in a six-run fourth inning, seizing the lead on Garrett Rede’s two-run single.
New Mexico reliever Cooper Corkrean earned the win with five solid innings, allowing two runs on two hits after the early outburst. Nevada’s bullpen, led by Luke Schat and Andres Castro, provided scoreless relief but the Wolf Pack offense stalled after the fifth.
With the win, New Mexico improved to 23-15-1 overall, while Nevada fell to 19-15.
