Columbia at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Interstat) — The Brown Bears, riding a wave of momentum, will host the Columbia Lions on Saturday at Murray Stadium in the opener of an Ivy League doubleheader.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 56 degrees.

Brown (16-13) enters with confidence after winning seven of its last 10 games, including a dominant 9-1 victory over Holy Cross on Tuesday. The Bears’ pitching has been a strength, highlighted by starter Bryan Yang. The right-hander is coming off a stellar outing against Holy Cross, where he threw six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four. In his last three appearances, all wins, Yang has pitched 14 innings and surrendered zero earned runs.

Columbia (8-19) seeks to build on its best offensive performance of the season, a 13-6 road win at Fairfield on Tuesday. The Lions are led by hot-hitting Hunter Snyder. The infielder went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs in that victory, capping a recent surge. Over his last five games, Snyder is 7 for 15 (.467) with eight RBIs.

The teams are heading in opposite directions in the standings. Brown sits above .500 and has been strong at home, while Columbia has struggled to find consistency, particularly in league play.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 victory for Brown.

The second game of the doubleheader will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. The series concludes with a single game Sunday.
