Yale at Cornell
ITHACA, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Yale Bulldogs look to even their Ivy League series and continue a strong season when they face the Cornell Big Red in the opener of a Saturday doubleheader at Hoy Field.
First pitch is set for Saturday, April 18, 2026, under cloudy skies with temperatures near 63 degrees.
Yale (20-11) enters with the conference’s best overall record but is coming off a 5-3 loss to Cornell on Friday. The Bulldogs had won eight of their last ten prior to the defeat. Cornell (7-21) snapped a four-game skid with that victory, one of its few bright spots in a challenging season.
A quick rematch is on tap, with Yale expected to start right-hander Daniel Cohen. Cohen took the loss Friday, allowing four earned runs over 4 1/3 innings despite not surrendering a hit, as he struggled with command. The senior has been otherwise stellar, including a complete-game, two-hit shutout of Penn on March 29.
Cornell will counter with right-hander Ross Yoshida, who was brilliant in relief in Friday’s win. Yoshida tossed 5 1/3 scoreless, hitless innings, striking out six to earn the victory. His consistency has been a question, however, with mixed results in recent outings.
The Bulldogs’ offense, which averages over seven runs per game, will look to rebound against Yoshida and a Cornell pitching staff with a collective ERA above 7.00. Yale won the previous series between the teams last season.
Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-3 Yale victory, giving the Bulldogs a 66.2% probability to win according to its ELO rating system.
The doubleheader opener is the second of a four-game weekend set between the Ivy League foes. The series concludes Sunday.
