Yale at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Yale Bulldogs look to even their Ivy League series and continue a strong season when they visit the Cornell Big Red in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Hoy Field.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 63 degrees.

Yale (20-11) enters riding a wave of momentum despite a 5-3 loss to Cornell in Friday’s series opener. The Bulldogs have won 10 of their last 13 games. Cornell (7-21) snapped a four-game skid with Friday’s victory.

A key rematch on the mound highlights the preview. Yale’s Daniel Cohen, a player to watch, is expected to start after taking the loss Friday. In that outing, he pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs despite not surrendering a hit, with control issues leading to walks. Cohen was brilliant in his previous start, a complete-game, two-hit shutout of Penn on March 29.

Cornell will counter with Ross Yoshida, who earned the win in relief Friday with 5.1 scoreless innings and six strikeouts. His recent outings have been inconsistent, but his performance against Yale provides a confidence boost.

The Bulldogs’ offense, which averages over seven runs per game during its recent successful stretch, will aim to rebound against a Cornell pitching staff with a collective ERA over 7.00. Yale’s Ben Winslow and Brett Faccio provided solid relief Friday and could be key factors again.

For Cornell, Friday’s heroes Caden Wildman (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) and Trent Lopez (a home run) will look to spark an offense that has been held to three or fewer runs 14 times this season.

According to Interstat, Yale is projected as a strong favorite with a 66.2% win probability and a simulated final score of 8-3.

The game is the first of two between the teams Saturday, with the second contest of the twinbill to follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener.
