HOUSTON (Interstat) — Ethan Atchley struck out seven over four scoreless innings of relief Wednesday, leading the Rice Owls to a 5-3 win over the Sam Houston Bearkats at M.O. Campbell Center.

Atchley allowed just one hit after entering in the third. His effort stabilized the game after Sam Houston’s Cade Corcoran hit a two-run homer in the top of the inning for a 3-1 lead. Rice answered immediately in the bottom half when Kutter-Gage Webb launched a three-run shot to right field, putting the Owls ahead for good. A sacrifice bunt by Davis in the fourth provided the final margin.

Rice improved to 24-14. Sam Houston fell to 14-23.
