Lafayette at Navy

LAFAYETTE LEOPARDS (7-21) AT NAVY MIDSHIPMEN (18-13)

Preview

CAPE SAINT CLAIRE, Md. (Interstat) — The Navy Midshipmen look to continue their winning form in Patriot League play when they host the struggling Lafayette Leopards on Friday evening at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures around 57 degrees.

Navy (18-13) enters the series having won four of its last six games, including taking two of three from Lehigh last weekend. The Midshipmen’s offense will look to rebound after being held to two runs in a midweek loss to Maryland.

Lafayette (7-21) seeks to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 13-3 loss at Penn on Tuesday. The Leopards have found wins scarce, dropping 10 of their last 13 contests.

A player to watch for Lafayette is reliever Rob Dorn, who has provided scoreless outings in his last two appearances, including 1 2/3 hitless innings with two strikeouts against Penn.

Navy will counter with reliever Adyn Lucero, who has logged two brief recent appearances. He escaped a jam without allowing an earned run against Maryland on Wednesday.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Lafayette is projected for a 5-3 victory.

The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday.
