Aggies, Wolf Pack Set for Midweek Clash in Reno
RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — The Nevada Wolf Pack host the UC Davis Aggies in a nonconference midweek baseball game Tuesday at William Peccole Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PDT.
Nevada (15-10) enters with a winning record, while UC Davis (11-17) looks to snap a three-game skid after being swept at UC Irvine over the weekend. The Aggies have lost seven of their last nine.
A player to watch for UC Davis is Joey Wright. The infielder is coming off a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and two RBIs in Saturday’s 8-4 loss at UC Irvine. Over his last 10 games, Wright is batting .300 (12-for-40) with two homers and nine RBIs.
For Nevada, reliever Aiden Pollock is a key figure. In his last outing on March 30 at Gonzaga, Pollock threw 2 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings. His recent performances have been uneven, but he provides a multi-inning option out of the bullpen.
The teams met for a three-game series in Davis earlier this season from Feb. 27 to March 1. The Aggies took two of three, winning 5-4 in 10 innings and 7-5 before dropping the finale 11-5.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection for Tuesday’s contest is a 7-2 victory for Nevada.
Following this game, UC Davis opens a three-game home series against Cal State Bakersfield on Friday. Nevada begins Mountain West Conference play at home Friday with a three-game set against San Jose State.
