Wildcats Outlast Shockers in High-Scoring Affair

WICHITA, Kan. (Interstat) — Kansas State built an early large lead and held off Wichita State for a 10-6 victory Tuesday night at Eck Stadium.

The Wildcats scored four runs in the second inning, highlighted by Cadyn Karl’s two-run single, and added four more in the third, capitalizing on wild pitches and an RBI single from Carlos Vasquez. The Shockers chipped away, with Anthony Cepeda driving in two runs as part of a perfect 4-for-4 night, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Kansas State pitchers Robert Fortenberry and Tazwell Butler combined for four scoreless innings of relief after starter Tanner Duke allowed five runs over five innings. Both teams finished with 13 hits. Kansas State improved to 20-11, while Wichita State fell to 18-13.
