Gibson Powers Bulldogs to Rout of Buccaneers

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — Michael Gibson homered twice and drove in four runs Tuesday, leading The Citadel to a 14-6 comeback victory over Charleston Southern at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The Bulldogs erased an early six-run deficit. Gibson’s solo homer in the first began the rally before his two-run single highlighted a six-run sixth inning that broke the game open. Zach Hunt added a two-run homer in the frame.

The Buccaneers had seized a 6-0 lead in the first on Chandler Tuupo’s three-run homer. Alex Marot later hit a three-run shot in the fifth to briefly tie the game before Citadel pulled away.

Andrew Bowers earned the win with five innings of relief for The Citadel (15-16). Charleston Southern fell to 20-11.
