Army, Holy Cross Open Doubleheader in Patriot League Clash

WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — The Army Black Knights visit the Holy Cross Crusaders on Saturday to open a Patriot League doubleheader, looking to continue their recent momentum against a Crusaders team coming off an offensive outburst.

First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Army (15-11) enters with a winning record, while Holy Cross sits at 10-16. The teams met for a three-game series at West Point in March, with Army taking two of three. Holy Cross won the most recent meeting 10-4 on March 15.

A player to watch for Army is reliever Michael Delph. Over his last five appearances, Delph has allowed just two earned runs in 8.2 innings, including 2.2 scoreless innings in a 12-6 win over Cornell on Tuesday.

Holy Cross counters with power-hitting first baseman Ryan Grundy. He is coming off a 1-for-3, five-RBI performance that included a home run in a wild 15-13 victory at Merrimack on Tuesday. In the March 15 win over Army, Grundy went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Army’s most recent win was the 12-6 decision over Cornell, powered by Zac Farrell’s two RBIs. Holy Cross rallied for its 15-13 win at Merrimack, with Colin Brown adding a solo home run.

Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-5 Army victory, with its ELO rating giving the Black Knights a 60.2% probability to win.

The second game of the doubleheader will follow Saturday’s opener. The series concludes with a single game Sunday.
