Louisville at Duke
DURHAM, N.C. (Interstat) — The Louisville Cardinals and Duke Blue Devils will continue their Atlantic Coast Conference series Friday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, one day after Duke opened the set with a 3-0 shutout victory.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
The Cardinals (18-11) look to rebound after being held to just three hits in Thursday’s loss. Their offense, which exploded for 17 runs in a midweek win at Eastern Kentucky, will lean on third baseman Bayram Hot. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs in that victory and has driven in 10 runs over his last 10 games.
The Blue Devils (19-12) have won three of their last four, including a 14-9 triumph over Davidson on Tuesday. Center fielder Michael DiMartini was a catalyst in that win, going 3 for 5 with two home runs. He is 8 for 18 (.444) with three homers over his last five games played.
Friday’s matchup features two teams with nearly identical records seeking momentum in conference play. According to Interstat, the game is projected to be a tight one, with its simulator forecasting a 7-6 Louisville victory. However, its ELO rating system gives Duke a slight edge, projecting the Blue Devils with a 54% probability to win.
Louisville’s recent schedule has been challenging, with series against Pittsburgh and North Carolina preceding this trip. Duke is coming off an ACC road series at Florida State, where it dropped two of three games before the midweek win over Davidson.
The series continues Saturday before both teams turn their attention to tough non-conference matchups next week. Louisville will travel to face in-state rival Kentucky, while Duke will visit East Carolina.
