Rainy Rematch Set for Bannerwood Park as Pilots, Redhawks Clash

BELLEVUE, Wash. (Interstat) — The Portland Pilots look to rebound from a series-opening loss when they face the Seattle Redhawks in wet conditions Friday at Bannerwood Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. under a forecast of 51-degree temperatures and rain.

Portland (18-9) enters with the superior record but is coming off a 5-1 defeat Thursday against these same Redhawks. Seattle (6-18) snapped a four-game skid with that victory.

A key player to watch for the Pilots is two-way standout Trey Swygart. In Thursday’s loss, he was a bright spot, pitching four hitless, scoreless innings in relief with six strikeouts. At the plate this season, he is batting .333 (10-for-30) over his last 10 games with four RBIs.

The Redhawks will counter with Travis Farrell, who dominated the Pilots just one day ago. Farrell (1-3, 4.15 ERA) threw a complete-game victory Thursday, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out 10 Portland batters.

Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-3 Portland victory, while its ELO rating system gives the Pilots a 76.5% probability to win.

The Pilots had won seven of eight before Thursday’s loss. Seattle’s win was just its second in the last 13 games.

The teams meet again Saturday to conclude the series. Portland then hosts Oregon on April 8, while Seattle begins a series with Loyola Marymount on April 10.
