Utah Tech at Saint Louis
ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The Utah Tech Trailblazers, riding a potent offense, visit the Saint Louis Billikens for a nonconference matchup Monday evening at Billiken Sports Center.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 71 degrees.
Utah Tech (18-10) arrives having won two of three at Southern Illinois, including a 12-4 victory Sunday. The Trailblazers have scored eight or more runs in eight of their last 12 games.
Saint Louis (12-15) looks to rebound after being swept at home by George Mason, culminating in a 3-1 loss Sunday. The Billikens have lost five of their last six.
A key matchup features Utah Tech right-hander Brandon Kosel, who has been dominant in recent relief appearances. Over his last four outings spanning 20 innings, Kosel has allowed just four earned runs and held opponents to a .154 batting average. He earned the win Sunday with 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Saint Louis will counter with righty Noah Andrunas, who took the loss Sunday despite a quality start, allowing one earned run over five innings. He pitched six scoreless frames in a win over Bradley on March 8.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Saint Louis is projected to edge Utah Tech 5-4.
Following Monday’s game, Utah Tech returns home to host Sacramento State for a three-game series starting Thursday. Saint Louis opens Atlantic 10 play on the road at Saint Joseph’s on Thursday.
