Houston Rallies From Seven-Run Deficit to Stun Texas

HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Houston Cougars mounted a stunning seven-run comeback to defeat the Texas Longhorns 9-7 on Tuesday night at M.O. Campbell Center.

Texas built a 7-0 lead by the fifth inning, capitalizing on walks and key hits, including a two-run double from Ethan Mendoza. The Longhorns managed only three hits total.

Houston’s comeback began with a three-run fifth. Easton Winfield launched a solo homer in the seventh before Riley Jackson’s tying blast in the eighth. The Cougars completed the rally with two more runs that frame, aided by Texas errors.

Houston reliever Harrison Boushele earned the win with 3 2/3 scoreless innings, stabilizing the game after recent struggles. The victory improved Houston to 13-11, while Texas fell to 20-4.
