Coastal Carolina at Clemson

Preview: Coastal Carolina at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (Interstat) — Two nationally relevant in-state programs clash Tuesday night when the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers visit the Clemson Tigers at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The nonconference matchup features teams with nearly identical records. Coastal Carolina (16-7) arrives riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping James Madison over the weekend, outscoring the Dukes 38-8. Clemson (18-7) looks to rebound after dropping two of three in a weekend series at Notre Dame.

A player to watch for the Chanticleers is right fielder Rex Watson. He is coming off a monstrous performance in Sunday’s 16-6 win over James Madison, going 3 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Watson has five homers and 20 RBIs, providing a potent bat in the middle of the Coastal Carolina order.

For the Tigers, right-hander Drew Titsworth is a key arm to monitor. He delivered four hitless innings of relief with five strikeouts in Sunday’s loss at Notre Dame, though he was charged with two earned runs. On the season, Titsworth has shown swing-and-miss stuff, fanning 12 batters over 11 2/3 innings while allowing just five hits.

The Chanticleers’ offense has been explosive, scoring 10 or more runs in six of their last 10 contests. Clemson’s pitching staff, which has a 4.12 team ERA, will be tested.

Clemson won the most recent meeting between the teams, 12-5, in 2024. The Tigers hold a 49-15 all-time series advantage.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 78 degrees.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Coastal Carolina 8, Clemson 4.
