Morehead State at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. (Interstat) — Two in-state rivals seeking momentum will meet Tuesday when the Morehead State Eagles visit the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at Turkey Hughes Field.

First pitch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, 2026, under cloudy skies with temperatures near 53 degrees.

Morehead State (10-13) enters after a wild, high-scoring series against SIU Edwardsville, culminating in a 28-23 loss on Sunday. Despite the defeat, catcher Caden Sheridan powered the Eagles’ offense, going 3 for 7 with two home runs and five RBIs. Sheridan has been a key bat, homering in three of his last seven games and driving in 10 runs over that stretch.

Eastern Kentucky (7-17) looks to rebound after dropping two of three at North Alabama, including a 7-5 loss on Sunday. Relief pitcher Clay Cartledge provided a bright spot in that game, throwing two scoreless and hitless innings. The right-hander has been effective in limited work this month, allowing no earned runs in four of his last five appearances.

The Eagles have shown offensive firepower, scoring 16 or more runs three times in March, but their pitching has struggled, allowing 23 or more runs in two of their last four contests. The Colonels have faced similar inconsistency, with their last seven games featuring both a 17-0 loss and a 16-3 victory.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow 5-4 victory for Morehead State, with its ELO rating system giving the Eagles a 53.9% probability to win.

Following the midweek matchup, both teams jump into conference play this weekend. Morehead State travels to face Eastern Illinois, while Eastern Kentucky visits Lipscomb.
