Huskies Ride Brandenburg’s Gem, Late Offense to Rout Waves

MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — Tommy Brandenburg fired five hitless innings and the Washington Huskies broke open a tight game with a five-run ninth to defeat the Pepperdine Waves 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.

Brandenburg struck out five and did not allow a hit before handing off to the bullpen. The game was a 2-0 pitchers’ duel until the seventh, when Jackson Hotchkiss hit a solo homer for Washington. Pepperdine scored twice in the bottom of the frame, but the Huskies sent 10 men to the plate in the ninth, keyed by Blake Wilson’s two-run double. Wilson finished with three RBIs.

Washington improved to 9-14, while Pepperdine fell to 6-18.
