Hot-Hitting Knights, Red Storm Set for Clash in Queens

NEW YORK (Interstat) — Two teams trending in opposite directions meet Tuesday when the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights visit the Saint John’s Red Storm at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

First pitch is set for the evening, with a forecast of 41 degrees and rain.

The Knights (13-7) ride a five-game winning streak into Queens, having outscored opponents 59-10 during the stretch. Their offense is powered by Jeremy Cheeseman, a two-way threat who has been dominant at the plate. In his last 10 games, Cheeseman is batting .500 (15-for-30) with eight home runs and 24 RBIs, including a 2-for-4, two-homer, four-RBI performance in Sunday’s 6-1 win over New Haven.

Saint John’s (9-13) looks to rebound after dropping two of three at Texas-Arlington over the weekend. Third baseman Jayder Raifstanger has been a bright spot, collecting nine hits in his last five games. He went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in Sunday’s 12-6 loss.

The Knights’ recent surge has featured explosive offense, scoring 10 or more runs in six of their last 10 contests. Saint John’s has struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past eight games.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, favoring Fairleigh Dickinson 8-6.

The Knights continue their road swing Wednesday at Lehigh. Saint John’s travels to face Marist on Wednesday.
