Middle Tennessee, Alabama A&M Set for Midweek Clash
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and Alabama A&M Bulldogs are scheduled for a non-conference baseball game Tuesday evening at Bulldog Field.
First pitch is set for under cloudy skies with temperatures around 59 degrees.
Middle Tennessee (12-12) enters looking to snap a four-game skid after a 9-10 loss at Missouri State on Sunday. The Blue Raiders’ offense has been inconsistent, scoring 17 runs in a win over Eastern Kentucky on March 10 but mustering just four runs in each of their last three losses.
A key bat for the Blue Raiders is first baseman Dean O’Neill. He provided a bright spot in Sunday’s defeat, going 1 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Over his last 10 games, O’Neill is hitting .300 (12 for 40) with two homers and eight RBIs.
Alabama A&M (5-19) seeks to end a five-game losing streak after falling 13-3 at Grambling on Sunday. The Bulldogs have struggled to find consistent pitching, allowing an average of 10.4 runs per game during their current slide.
Second baseman Bryan Walker has been a steady performer for the Bulldogs. He homered and drove in two runs in Sunday’s loss, and over his last 10 games is batting .324 (11 for 34) with a home run and nine RBIs.
The teams met earlier this season on Feb. 17 in Murfreesboro, with Middle Tennessee cruising to a 19-2 victory.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Tuesday’s contest projects to be a tighter affair, with a predicted final score of Middle Tennessee 3, Alabama A&M 2.
Following this game, Middle Tennessee will open a three-game home series against New Mexico State starting Friday. Alabama A&M will travel to begin a Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Mississippi Valley State on Friday.
