Seattle at Pacific
STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — The Seattle Redhawks look to snap a five-game skid when they visit the Pacific Tigers in the second of a three-game series Saturday at Klein Family Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. PDT under clear skies with a forecast temperature of 88 degrees.
Seattle (3-13) dropped the series opener 5-0 on Friday night. The Redhawks have lost 10 of their last 11 games and are seeking their first road win of the season (0-7).
Pacific (8-12) has won two of its last three after Tuesday’s 8-2 loss to Winthrop.
A key matchup will feature relievers trying to find consistency. Seattle’s Jake Morell has been a bright spot, not allowing an earned run in five of his last seven appearances. Over his last four outings, spanning 10.2 innings, the right-hander has surrendered just three hits and two earned runs while striking out 17.
Pacific will counter with right-hander Regan Carter, who is coming off his best start of the season. Carter held Winthrop to two earned runs over 5.1 innings last Tuesday, striking out five. Prior to that, he had struggled, giving up 16 earned runs in just 7.1 innings across three appearances.
At the plate, Seattle shortstop Kenny Rhein is riding a hot streak, going 3 for 4 with an RBI in the Redhawks’ most recent game, a 7-4 loss at Washington on March 10. For Pacific, outfielder Derek Bartram drove in a run in the loss to Winthrop.
According to Interstat, the projection models favor the Tigers slightly. The game simulator predicts a 4-3 Pacific victory, while the ELO rating system gives the Tigers a 51.40% probability to win.
The series concludes Sunday afternoon in Stockton. Seattle then travels to face San Francisco next weekend, while Pacific hosts UC Davis on Tuesday before a weekend series against Gonzaga.
