North Dakota State at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. (Interstat) — A pair of struggling Summit League rivals will meet for the second straight day when the South Dakota State Jackrabbits host the North Dakota State Bison on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Erv Huether Field.

First pitch is set for the afternoon under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 69 degrees.

Both teams are seeking momentum in a season short on wins. The visiting Bison (4-17) snapped a four-game skid with a 6-1 victory over the Jackrabbits (5-17) here on Friday. South Dakota State has lost six of its last seven.

The spotlight will be on the mound, where North Dakota State right-hander Parker Puetz looks to build on a dominant performance. In Friday’s win, Puetz threw six no-hit innings, allowing one earned run while striking out seven. Over his last two starts, he has pitched 12 innings without allowing a hit, though he surrendered three earned runs in a loss at Omaha on March 13.

South Dakota State will counter with right-hander Ty Madison, who took the loss Friday. Madison worked five innings, giving up three hits and three earned runs while striking out five. The Jackrabbits’ bullpen has been taxed, and finding consistent innings from the staff has been a season-long challenge.

In Friday’s series opener, Colten Becker provided the offense for NDSU, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs. South Dakota State’s Nolan Grawe had three of his team’s five hits, going 3-for-5 with an RBI.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Saturday’s contest projects to be another low-scoring affair, with a predicted final of 2-1 in favor of North Dakota State.

The series will conclude Sunday in Brookings.
