Marist at Iona

Pitching Rematch Highlights Marist-Iona Series Finale

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (March 21, 2026) (Interstat) — A quick-turnaround pitching rematch is set for Saturday evening at City Park as the Iona Gaels host the Marist Red Foxes in the second game of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series.

The Gaels (5-10) will look to even the series after falling 1-0 in a pitchers’ duel Friday afternoon. The Red Foxes (6-14) will aim for a series win behind a familiar arm.

Marist is expected to start right-hander Will Taylor, who authored a dominant performance just one day prior. On Friday, Taylor threw seven no-hit innings, striking out four, to earn the win. In his last start against Iona, Gaels’ starter Andrelys Payamps was nearly as sharp, allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings in a hard-luck loss.

Payamps is the probable starter again for Iona on Saturday, setting the stage for a rare consecutive-day matchup between the two aces.

Both teams have struggled for consistency this season. Marist has dropped 14 of its last 20 games overall but took two of three from Saint Peter’s last weekend. Iona has lost three of its last four, though its offense erupted for 15 runs against Merrimack on March 15.

Key performers from Friday’s opener look to continue their momentum. Marist center fielder TJ Baer drove in the game’s only run with a 2-for-4 performance. Iona’s Damian Rodriguez collected three of his team’s four hits, going 3-for-4.

The weather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a temperature of 51 degrees at first pitch.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Marist is projected for a narrow 5-4 victory.

The series concludes Sunday afternoon at City Park.
