Evans Dominates as LSU Routs Oklahoma in SEC Opener

BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — Casan Evans struck out 15 over 7 2/3 dominant innings, leading LSU to a 7-1 victory over Oklahoma in a Southeastern Conference opener Thursday at Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field.

The Tigers capitalized on four Oklahoma errors in a four-run second inning, with all runs unearned. John Pearson and Omar Serna Jr. each had two of LSU’s seven hits. The Sooners managed just four hits, with their lone run scoring on a sixth-inning error.

Evans allowed only three hits and no earned runs, rebounding from a rough outing his last time out. Oklahoma starter Xander Mercurius took the loss despite not allowing a hit over five innings; he walked five and yielded two earned runs. LSU improved to 16-7, while Oklahoma fell to 17-5. The series continues Friday.
