Saint Joseph`s at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The Richmond Spiders will look to salvage the finale of a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series against the Saint Joseph’s Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Malcolm U. Pitt Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with temperatures around 60 degrees.

The Hawks (7-8, 2-0 A-10) have taken the first two games of the series, including a 4-3 victory on Saturday. The Spiders (10-9, 0-2) have lost three straight.

A key rematch is expected on the mound. Saint Joseph’s right-hander Cole Fehrman, who earned the win Saturday with a dominant 10-strikeout performance over 4 2/3 innings of relief, could be called upon again. Fehrman has been volatile, however, allowing 15 earned runs over his previous three appearances before Saturday’s outing.

Richmond will likely counter with left-hander Jackson Hinchliffe, who started Saturday and took the loss despite not allowing an earned run over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four and scattered five hits.

The Hawks’ bullpen, featuring Andrew Gaines and Sam Greer, secured Saturday’s narrow win. Richmond’s Evan Wilson provided a bright spot in the loss, hitting a solo home run.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Richmond 6, Saint Joseph’s 5.

The series has been offensively charged, with Saint Joseph’s winning 11-9 on Friday before Saturday’s pitcher’s duel.

Following Sunday’s game, Richmond hosts Maryland on Tuesday. Saint Joseph’s travels to Delaware on Tuesday.
