South Dakota State at Oral Roberts

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE JACKRABBITS (5-11) AT ORAL ROBERTS GOLDEN EAGLES (7-9)

Preview

TULSA, Okla. (March 14, 2026) (Interstat) — The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a Summit League matchup Saturday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 68 degrees.

Oral Roberts (7-9) looks to build momentum after a narrow 8-7 loss at Central Arkansas on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles’ bullpen has been a strength recently, with reliever Maddox Thornton providing three scoreless innings in that defeat. Over his last four appearances, Thornton has allowed no hits and just two earned runs over 7 2/3 innings, striking out five.

South Dakota State (5-11) seeks to end a four-game skid, including a 9-0 loss at Kansas State on Wednesday and a series-opening defeat to Oral Roberts on Friday. A bright spot in the shutout was reliever Logan Campbell, who threw two hitless innings. Campbell’s recent outings have been volatile, but he has shown the ability to deliver zeros, as he did against Kansas State and in a Feb. 22 win over Tarleton State.

The Jackrabbits’ offense has struggled, scoring one run or fewer in four of their last six games. Oral Roberts’ lineup is led by center fielder Makani Tanaka, who went 3 for 5 with two RBIs in the midweek contest at Central Arkansas.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Oral Roberts is projected to win a close one, 5-4.

Following Saturday’s contest, the series concludes Sunday afternoon before both teams turn to non-conference midweek action. South Dakota State travels to Oklahoma State for two games, while Oral Roberts visits Arkansas-Little Rock.
