Mountaineers Bounce Back, Rout Bears in Big 12 Clash
WACO, Texas (Interstat) — Paul Schoenfeld drove in four runs and Chansen Cole pitched six no-hit innings as West Virginia routed Baylor 13-2 on Saturday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark, avenging a one-run loss from the previous night.
The Mountaineers scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second to build an early lead and never looked back, pounding out 17 hits. Schoenfeld finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with a double, triple and four RBIs.
Cole was dominant, allowing just two earned runs on no hits over six innings while striking out five to earn the win. Baylor’s only runs came on a two-run homer by Tyce Armstrong in the fourth inning. The Bears managed just three hits total.
With the victory, West Virginia improved to 12-4 overall, while Baylor fell to 11-7. The teams conclude their three-game Big 12 series Sunday.
