Morehead State at Western Carolina
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Interstat) — Two surging teams riding high from offensive outbursts will meet Thursday when the Western Carolina Catamounts host the Morehead State Eagles in nonconference baseball at Hennon Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 74 degrees.
Western Carolina (11-6) enters having won five of its last seven, including a 13-3 road rout of Appalachian State on Tuesday. The Catamounts pounded out 14 hits in that victory, led by right fielder Walker Fox, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Fox is hitting .500 (7 for 14) with three homers and seven RBIs over his last three games with a hit.
Morehead State (9-7) counters with its own potent lineup, coming off a 16-11 win at UNC Asheville on Tuesday. The Eagles have scored nine or more runs in five of their last six games, all wins. Catcher Caden Sheridan has been a key catalyst, driving in three runs with a home run in the Asheville victory. Over his last 10 games, Sheridan has three homers and 12 RBIs.
The series opens a four-game homestand for Western Carolina, which is 5-2 at Hennon Stadium this season. Morehead State is in the midst of a 10-game road swing.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a close contest, favoring Morehead State 6-5.
The teams are scheduled for a three-game weekend series, with games also set for Friday and Saturday in Cullowhee.
