Towson at George Washington

ARLINGTON, Va. (Interstat) — The Towson Tigers and George Washington Revolutionaries will look to steady their seasons when they meet in a nonconference matchup Wednesday afternoon at Barcroft Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 83 degrees.

Both teams enter with losing records. Towson (5-7) has dropped three straight, including a 12-4 loss to Monmouth on Sunday. George Washington (6-8) is coming off a high-scoring, 15-11 defeat to Yale on the same day.

A key matchup will feature Towson reliever Jacob Whiteman against George Washington’s power-hitting first baseman Charlie Rogan. Whiteman has been a bright spot for the Tigers’ bullpen, allowing just one earned run over his last 9 2/3 innings across three appearances. In Sunday’s loss, he provided four strong innings of relief, giving up two hits and one run while striking out four.

Rogan looks to continue his hot bat after a breakout performance Sunday. He went 4 for 6 with two home runs and three RBIs in the loss to Yale. Over his last 10 games, Rogan has four homers and 10 RBIs.

The Tigers will aim to rebound offensively after scoring just 10 total runs in their three-game sweep by Monmouth. Catcher Brian Heckelman had three of Towson’s 11 hits in the series finale.

The Revolutionaries’ offense has shown potency, averaging over eight runs per game in their last four contests. Alongside Rogan, shortstop Nick Mullen (4 for 6, HR, 3 RBIs) and third baseman Cristino Tufano (2 for 3, HR, 3 RBIs) fueled Sunday’s 11-run output.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection favors the home team with a predicted final score of George Washington 6, Towson 4.

This game is the final nonconference tune-up for both sides before weekend series begin. Towson travels to face Northeastern in a three-game set starting Friday. George Washington opens a three-game home series against Rhode Island on Friday.
