Vasseur, Gauchos Offense Overwhelm Gaels in Lopsided Victory

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Interstat) — William Vasseur drove in three runs on two doubles as UC Santa Barbara routed Saint Mary’s 13-3 on Tuesday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.

The Gauchos (13-2) erased an early 3-0 deficit with a seven-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Vasseur and a two-run double from Jonathan Mendez. Noah Karliner’s three-run homer in the first inning started the comeback.

Saint Mary’s (9-6) managed 10 hits, including three from Ian Armstrong, but grounded into two double plays. The Gaels’ three runs came on a wild pitch, an RBI double from Jacob Johnson and a single from Dario Freschi.

Five UC Santa Barbara pitchers combined on the win, with starter Josh Jannicelli allowing two runs over three innings. The Gauchos have won nine of their last ten games.
