Howard Powers Longwood to Rout of George Mason

FARMVILLE, Va. (Interstat) — Jon Howard homered twice and drove in three runs Tuesday afternoon as Longwood blasted George Mason 11-1 at Bolding Stadium.

Howard, who entered in a 1-for-12 slump, went 3 for 5. His solo shot in the sixth broke a 1-1 tie and sparked a decisive rally. He added a two-run homer in the seventh. Brogan Jones also homered for the Lancers (13-4).

The Patriots (6-8) scored first on Lucas Alberti’s first-inning RBI single but managed just six hits. Wyatt Bunch, Drew Siegner and Braydon Gray combined for eight scoreless innings of relief for Longwood after Parker Thomas allowed one run over three innings for George Mason.
