Golden Gophers Edge Jackrabbits in 10-Inning Pitchers’ Duel
MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — Sam Hunt’s 10th-inning sacrifice bunt drove in the winning run as the Minnesota Golden Gophers rallied to defeat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 3-2 on Saturday.
The game was a tense pitchers’ duel. South Dakota State’s Sam Schlecht threw 6 2/3 no-hit innings before exiting, but Minnesota’s Isaac Morton was equally sharp with six scoreless frames. The Jackrabbits scored single runs in the fourth and seventh, with Nolan Grawe providing an RBI double.
Minnesota tied it in the seventh on a balk and won it in the 10th. Easton Richter singled, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored when Hunt laid down a bunt with the bases loaded that resulted in a fielder’s choice.
Minnesota improved to 11-3. South Dakota State fell to 4-9.
