Saint Mary`s at San Diego State
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Saint Mary’s Gaels and San Diego State Aztecs will continue their weekend series Saturday at USD Sports Center, with both teams looking to build momentum in non-conference play.
First pitch is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, under cloudy skies with temperatures near 66 degrees.
The Gaels (7-4) enter after a 7-2 win over UC Davis on Tuesday, while the Aztecs (8-5) are coming off a high-scoring 13-10 victory against Long Beach State on Wednesday. The teams opened their series Friday.
A key player to watch for Saint Mary’s is reliever Noah Waldeck. The right-hander has been excellent in recent outings, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts against UC Davis and two perfect frames in a 10-8, 12-inning win at Cal State Bakersfield on Feb. 24.
San Diego State will look for production from center fielder Jake Jackson. He powered the Aztecs’ midweek win, going 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs against Long Beach State. His performance snapped an 0-for-14 skid.
The Aztecs’ offense has been inconsistent, scoring 13 runs Wednesday after managing just three total in two losses at Washington to open the week. Saint Mary’s has won five of its last six games, with the bullpen, led by Waldeck, playing a significant role.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Saturday’s projected final score is Saint Mary’s 8, San Diego State 6.
Following Saturday’s contest, the series concludes Sunday at San Diego State. The Gaels then visit UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday. The Aztecs will hit the road for a midweek game at Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday before hosting Washington State for a three-game series next weekend.
