EDINBURG, Texas (Interstat) — Julius Ramirez drove in four runs, including a two-run homer, to lead Texas-Rio Grande Valley to an 8-6 win over New Orleans in Southland Conference baseball Saturday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

The Vaqueros overcame two home runs from New Orleans’ Kruise Newman, who had five RBIs. Newman’s three-run shot in the seventh gave the Privateers a 6-5 lead, but Texas-Rio Grande Valley tied it in the bottom half on an error and took the lead for good with two unearned runs in the eighth, one on a Ramirez sacrifice fly.

Harrison Thayer earned the win for the Vaqueros, now 7-8. New Orleans fell to 6-9.
